Bagan is an ancient city containing thousands of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas and ruins built during the 9th to 13th centuries. It was the capital of the Pagan Kingdom.

History

At its height (11th–13th centuries), the Pagan Kingdom constructed over 10,000 religious monuments across the Bagan plains.
